Earlier today we were informed that the Health Bill clauses relating to the abolition of Healthwatch are to be withdrawn. Having spent 13 years of my life working for Healthwatch in Staffordshire and Warwickshire, I am delighted that the new administration have fully recognised the importance of having an independent patient voice in health and care.
I have no doubt that there will need to be further work developing and strengthening the role of Healthwatch and I will do all I can to support that work.
In the meantime I would like to give my thanks to so many people for their messages of support over the last 16 months or so. It has meant a great deal
