The Cooperative Party is holding a series of Conferences in every region and nation as part of Cooperation Live in 2021. The combined West and East Midlands event is being held on Saturday 6th February from 2.00pm to 5.45 pm.
The Conference is called Owning the Future and will be an opportunity for members to help shape the policy ideas that the Party will take to all levels of Government. The Policy debates at the Conference will focus on the current work of the Party, on Social Care Policy and on Reinvigorating the High Street.
We will also focus on the forthcoming local government, Mayoral and PCC elections, and discuss how we can support candidates with campaigning despite the current restrictions on our activities.
Guest Speakers include Preet Gill MP, chair of the Co-operative Party Parliamentary Group; Liam Byrne MP, Labour and Co-operative candidate for West Midlands Metro Mayoral elections; Paddy Tipping, the Police & Crime Commissioner for Nottinghamshire; and Joe Fortune, the General Secretary of the Co-operative Party.
The Conference will be jointly hosted by Jamie McMahon, the Coop Party NEC member for the East Midlands and by me. The Policy debates will be livestreamed on the Cooperative Party Conference Webpage and will be followed by Zoom based regional events focussing on elections and campaigning.
